UKELA is the leading membership organisation for those interested in environmental law. They asked us to handle their rebranding and the redesign their website. While recognising that they needed to appeal to younger people, they did not want to lose their more traditional supporters so the new branding had to be seen as a development from the old.
Through the process of exploring UKELA’s values we identified four key words that summed up the qualities of the organisation: Inclusive; Authoritative; Powerful; Passionate. These words inform the aesthetic of both the branding and the new website.
Over the years, the old UKELA website had grown out of all proportion. Our brief was to analyse the content and come up with a new Information Architecture. This logical structure underpins the new, streamlined website and makes navigation more intuitive.
The website’s functionality is key: as well as being a rich source of information it includes an events calendar, social media feed, and a protected area for UKELA Members.
